Thumaroo(Sindhi Dish made with Jawar/Millet flour)

by Pooja 13. February 2008 09:29

This recipe is running into my family from generation to generation. This is something which you won't find in any menu of the world.

Ingredients:

  • Musterd seeds
  • ginger
  • garlic
  • green chillies
  • turmeric powder
  • salt
  • 2tsp garam masala
  • oil
  • Jawari/Millet Flour
First we need to create a Masala by grinding ginger, garlic,  green chillies. Add salt & turmeric powder to masala .
Heat pan, add oil. Add mustard seeds. After mustard seeds splutter add half amount of masala in kadhai. Spare remaining half amount of masala. You should stir the mixture in kadhai. Add a glass of water in kadhai and let it simmer at low flame.
Now, gather jawari  flour, oil & remaining half amount of masala in bowl. Prepare dough. Preapare small round pieces  (size of the pieces shud be small as that of coin) of that dough. Put those pieces in kadhai. Add some amount of water in kadhai. Add salt, if required. Add lemon or tamarind water. Boil the mixture for some time & the receipe is ready.
This receipe is best in winter.
Enjoy!
